WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - No. 15 Purdue (9-1) kicked off the Stacey Clark Classic with its seventh sweep of the season to defeat Miami (Ohio) (7-5) 25-21, 25-16, 25-19. The Boilermakers were locked in defensively as four players finished with 10 or more digs to hold the RedHawks to a .119 hitting percentage.

Brooke Peters continues to thrive in her role as the team's libero as she led the Boilermakers' defensive effort with 14 digs to accompany her two service aces. The match is the Avon, Indiana, native's fifth-straight contest and eighth match of the season with 10 digs or more. Seniors Carissa Damler, Ashley Evans and Azariah Stahl bolstered the defense with 10-plus dig performances of their own. Damler earned a season-best 11 digs with Evans matching her to earn her third double-double of 2017. Stahl was just three kills shy of a double-double as she hit .294 with seven kills, an ace and 10 digs.

Evans set the offense to 36 of its 45 kills while also acing the RedHawks twice. Sherridan Atkinson bounced back after a slow start to lead Purdue with 12 kills on 26 attempts and hit .308 on the evening. Blake Mohler was the most efficient offensive option for the Boilermakers as she hit .316 to earn nine kills. Caitlyn Newton was good for five kills on 15 swings off the bench with just one error giving her a .267 hitting percentage. Shavona Cuttino led Purdue with four blocks while her sister Danielle Cuttino dropped eight kills on 19 swings.

The Boilermakers conclude the Stacey Clark Classic and non-conference play Sunday, Sept. 17 at 1 p.m. ET in Holloway Gymnasium against Loyola (Chicago).
