- Freshman Cole Bradley's final-round 68 was the lowest score for a Purdue player in an opening-season tournament since Adam Schenk shot a 65 in the first round of the 2011 Turning Stone Tiger Invitational.

INDEPENDENCE, Minn. ââ'¬" The Purdue men's golf team pieced together its best round Monday to move up one spot in the final round, finishing ninth out of 15 teams at the loaded Gopher Invitational at Windsong Farm GC.
Sporting a new-look lineup that featured two freshmen for the first time since the 2013-14 season, Purdue posted its lowest score of the tournament, shooting a 4-over par 288 to finish ninth.
The Boilermakers recorded a 54-hole total of 22-over par 874 (292-294-288) to finish 26 shots behind champion Arkansas (-4). No. 4-ranked Baylor (+6) was second and followed by defending national champion Oklahoma (+7), Kent State (+8), Pepperdine (+14), Michigan State (+17), Arizona State (+18), Charlotte (+21) and then Purdue (+22).
San Diego State (+23) rounded out the top 10.
Baylor, Kent State, Oklahoma, Pepperdine and Arizona State all made the NCAA Championships a year ago.
Leading Monday's effort was freshman Cole Bradley, who was playing in his first collegiate tournament. Bradley fired a final-round, 3-under par 68 to finish at 3-over par 216 (74-74-68), good for T-13th overall. His round featured an eagle on the par-4, 383-yard 13th hole, which offset an early bogey to move to 1-under par. He would get to 4-under par before a bogey on his 15th hole dropped him to 3-under par.
Bradley jumped 28 spots in the final round, posting the field's third-best score of the day.
Senior Brian Carlson finished T-18th at 4-over par 217 (69-72-76) after a final-round 76. Carlson was 1-over par through 10 holes, but bogeyed four of his last eight holes to finish with a 76.
Junior Timmy Hildebrand tied for 51st at 10-over par 223 (77-75-71). Hildebrand posted four birdies, 10 pars and four bogeys during the final round.
Freshman Jason Hong finished T-56th at 11-over par 224 (72-77-75), while junior Jarle Volden was T-64th at 13-over par 226 (79-73-74).
In an individual tournament at Pioneer Creek Golf Course, Joe Weiler finished tied for fifth among 27 golfers with a 3-over par 219 (74-74-71).
Purdue will return to action at the Northern Intercollegiate, held at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove, Illinois, on Sept. 24 and 25.
