Spring and At-Large Academic All-Big Ten
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Big Ten Conference announced the Spring and At-Large All-Academic Teams on Wednesday, naming 69 Purdue student-athletes to the list. Combined with the 57 Boilermakers on the fall list and 59 on the winter list, Purdue had 185 Academic All-Big Ten selections on its rosters for the 2016-17 school year.
The women's track and field program, fresh off an outdoor Big Ten title, had 19 of its members recognized for academics. Men's track and field had 10 members feted, followed by nine each from baseball and softball, seven each from men's tennis and men's golf, six from women's golf and two from women's tennis.
Combined, the track and field program has 10 entries for the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Oregon, in June, while both golf programs and the men's tennis program competed in the NCAA postseason.
To be eligible for Academic All-Big Ten selection, student-athletes must be letterwinners who are in at least their second academic year at their institution and carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher.
