WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Currently No. 13 of 14 in the Big Ten standings, the Purdue women's tennis team hoped to make the most of its final two home matches, Saturday and Sunday. However, the first didn't swing the team's way. The Boilermakers fell 5-0 to No. 34 Northwestern outside at the Schwartz Tennis Center, extending Purdue's drought to 12 matches.

The Wildcats clinched the doubles point with victories on courts one and two. No. 14 Alex Chatt and Maddie Lipp defeated Purdue's No. 51 Rafaella Baquerizo and Andjela Djokovic 6-2 on the first, and Rheeya Doshi and Erin Larner of Northwestern bested Marta Ruedas and Deborah Suarez 6-0 on the third

In singles, the Boilermakers dropped four matches in a row on the upper two and lower two courts. Larner and Lipp continued to trouble Purdue's lineup, defeating Djokovic 7-5, 6-3 on court one and Alex Sabe 6-4, 6-3 on court two, respectively. The straight set loss was Djokovic's first appearance in the number one position during her senior season.

Chatt also didn't let up in singles, handing Ruedas a 6-4, 6-3 (7-5) loss on court five, and Jillian Rooney ended Caitlin Calkins three-match win streak with a 6-4, 7-6 decision on court six.

Purdue will have one final opportunity to take advantage of its home schedule against Illinois on Sunday at noon ET. The Fighting Illini are 10-10 on the season and No. 6 in the conference standings.
