WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Jack Dellinger worked 6 1/3 shutout innings and Purdue baseball recorded a season-high run total, posting its fifth straight win 18-0 vs. Fort Wayne on Tuesday at Alexander Field.
The Boilermakers (23-18) won in shutout fashion for the fourth time this season, their most such victories since having six during the 2012 Big Ten championship campaign.
Jacson McGowan and Harry Shipley both recorded a career-high four hits. Mike Madej and McGowan both connected for home runs to left field. Shipley reached base safely in all five of his plate appearances and stole a career-high three bases. Skyler Hunter and Nick Dalesandro both drove in a run in three different plate appearances.
Purdue has surrendered just four runs in the last 41 innings dating back to the fifth inning of last week's comeback win at Indiana State. Dellinger (2-3) has not allowed an earned run over 11 1/3 innings in his last two starts. The freshman retired 10 consecutive batters from the second through fifth innings. He has compiled a 1.25 ERA in 21 2/3 innings at Alexander Field this season.

Since Tanner Andrews walked a career-high eight over five innings in Friday's series-opening win vs. Illinois, Purdue three pitchers -- Gareth Stroh, Mike Kornacker and Dellinger -- have issued just one walk in a combined 21 innings over the last three games.
After Hunter delivered a two-out RBI single in the bottom of the first, McGowan homered into the left field bullpen on a 3-0 pitch. It was his team-leading sixth long ball of the season. The Boilermakers have scored at least twice with two outs in the first inning three times in the last four games. Those rallies have been a big reason why Purdue has not trailed since entering the top of the seventh at Indiana State down 7-4.
Madej went deep to lead off the bottom of the fourth, connecting for his first home run since hitting the Boilermakers' first homer of the season in the Feb. 18 win at Texas State.
Purdue recorded seven straight one-out singles in the sixth inning, scoring six times to match their biggest frame of the season. The Boilermakers also had seven consecutive batters reach base safely in the bottom of the eighth. Drew Bertram delivered a pinch-hit RBI double off the wall in left field during the rally.
Dellinger stranded runners on the corners in the first inning, pitching over a 1-out error. Tanner Schumacher needed only one pitch to escape a bases-loaded jam in the eighth inning. He went on to work a 1-2-3 ninth and has now retired 12 of the last 13 batters he has faced dating back to last week at Indiana State.
Hunter posted his team-high 16th multi-hit effort to extend his hitting streak to nine consecutive games.
Purdue kept Fort Wayne (7-31) leadoff man Jackson Boyce off base for the first time this season.
The Boilermakers continue their season-long 10-game homestand Friday when they open a three-game weekend series against Saint Louis. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. ET.
