BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- The Boilermakers continued their series domination over instate foe Indiana with a five-set win over the Hoosiers on Wednesday. Purdue won the match 21-25, 25-15, 25-15, 18-25, 15-7 for its ninth straight win over IU and now boasts a 25-3 series mark under head coach Dave Shondell.

Junior Danielle Cuttino led the way with 20 kills, hitting .350. Redshirt sophomore Sherridan Atkinson followed with 18, while hitting at a .536 clip, and junior Azariah Stahl posted a 10-kill, 13 dig double double. Redshirt senior Faye Adelaja added nine kills and a team-best three blocks.

In the back court, Stahl and freshman Natalie Haben led the way with 13 digs. Sophomore Brooke Peters added nine followed by seven apiece by redshirt junior Ashley Evans and redshirt sophomore Carissa Damler.

The Boilermakers outhit Indiana .373 to .229, but hit at a .400 or better clip in three sets (.452 in Set 2, .560 in Set 3 and .400 in Set 5). Purdue outdug the Hoosiers 56 to 42 and the teams tied with five blocks apiece.

The Boilermakers closed out the night with a 15-7 win in the decisive fifth set, hitting .400 to Indiana's -.053 effort. Atkinson tallied five kills in the final stanza. The teams split the first six points, before Purdue jumped ahead 9-4 as Atkinson and Cuttino each downed two kills and IU helped with a pair of errors. IU took timeout down 11-6, but kills by Atkinson and Adelaja and a Hoosier error made it 14-6. Atkinson ended the night with her career-best 18th kill.

A mid-set rally was enough to lift Indiana to a 25-21 Set 1 win, overcoming five kills apiece by Cuttino and Atkinson. The Boilermakers scored six of the first 10 points with help from three Hoosier errors and kills by Atkinson and Cuttino. The teams tied at 6 setting off a string of six ties, last at 11. Down 10-9, Purdue kicked off a 7-1 run to vault ahead 16-11 as Cuttino put down three more kills. Indiana outscored the Boilermakers 14-5 down the stretch en route to the win.

The Boilermakers led Set 2 from start to finish en route to a 25-15 win. Cuttino put down six kills in the stanza, while Adelaja added four. After ties at three and four, the Boilermakers surged ahead 11-6 with kills from four players, including back-to-back efforts by Adelaja to cap the rally. Indiana cut the margin to three at 12-9, but that sparked a 6-2 Purdue run, which featured a block by Stahl and Mohler and an ace by Damler to make it 18-11. The Boilermakers closed the door with the final five points, including a pair of Cuttino kills.

After falling behind 7-5 early in Set 3, the Boilermakers raced to a 25-15 victory, hitting .560 en route to the win. A 10-4 run, including five Hoosier miscues, two Cuttino kills and an ace by Evans, turned the deficit into a 15-11 lead. An Indiana kill stopped Purdue momentarily, but the team answered with a 6-0 run to go up 21-12. Stahl put down two kills and Mohler added an ace to make it 24-13. Atkinson pounded down the final point at 25-15.

Indiana led Set 4 from wire to wire, jumping out to a 9-4 lead and never allowing Purdue closer than three the rest of the way in a 25-18 win. The Boilermakers cut the margin to three at 10-7, 11-8 and 13-10, but the Hoosiers pulled away for a 17-12 edge. A Cuttino kill and IU error made it 17-14 and forced a Hoosier timeout. The teams split the next four points, before Indiana surged 24-17. A Cuttino putaway thwarted the first set point chance, but it was not enough.

The Boilermakers (17-11, 7-10 B1G) return to action at 7 p.m. ET Saturday when they take on No. 15 Penn State in Happy Valley.
