GREENSBORO, N.C. --The Purdue men's golf team currently sit in a seventh-place tie after 36 holes at the Bridgestone Golf Collegiate, held at the Grandover Resort in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Despite posting under-par rounds in both rounds of the day, the Boilermakers had a disappointing day on the course. Purdue shot a 36-hole total of 5-under par 571 (284-287) to end day one in a four-way tie for seventh place. The Boilermakers are 21 shots behind leader Duke and 14 shots behind second-place Northwestern, who both turned in strong second rounds to distance themselves from the pack.

Iowa State and Liberty are tied for third at 17-under par, while North Carolina State is fifth at 15-under par and UNC Greensboro is sixth at 14-under par.

Timmy Hildebrand continues to play well for the Boilermakers, leading Purdue on day one. The sophomore from Westfield, Indiana, is tied for 22nd at 3-under par 141 (73-68), posting a career-low round in the afternoon session. He posted five birdies against just one bogey in the second round and recorded his first career round in the 60s.

Austin Eoff is also tied for 22nd at 3-under par 141 (69-72) after recording both rounds of even-par or better. Eoff started his day with three birdies in the first four holes in round one, but then bogeyed three of his next five holes to fall to even-par. He would play the back nine in 3-under par for an opening-round 69. He then posted an even-par 72 for his 57th career round of even-par or better.

Brian Carlson and Fernando Barco are tied for 46th at 2-over par 146. Carlson recorded rounds of 71 and 75 while Barco posted rounds of 74 and 72. Carlson has had a team counting score in 29 straight rounds dating to last year.

Jarle Volden is tied for 51st at 3-over par 147 after rounds of 71 and 76.

Individually, James Thompson is tied for 82nd at 15-over par 159 (81-78).

Purdue will be paired with Kansas State and VCU for Monday's third and final round and will tee off at 8:30 a.m. ET.
