ZIONSVILLE, Ind. -- The Purdue men's golf team was solid up and down the lineup and lead after 18 holes at the rain-shortened Wolf Run Intercollegiate at Wolf Run Golf Club in Zionsville, Indiana.

The tournament was shortened from 54 holes to 36 holes after heavy rains inundated the area last night and this morning. The teams were scheduled to play 36 holes today, but weren't able to tee off until 1 p.m. ET, then battled windy conditions on the difficult course.

The weather didn't phase Purdue, which shot a 7-under par 277 to lead by 11 shots over No. 3-ranked Illinois and Kentucky, which both shot 4-over par scores of 288.

The 277 tied for the fifth-best, 18-hole score in school history and head coach Rob Bradley had four players post under-par scores and rank in the top six after 18 holes.

Leading the Boilermakers' charge was junior Brian Carlson, who leads the field after shooting a 3-under par 68. Carlson started his round with a par followed by three straight birdies. He then birdied his eighth hole to move to 4-under par. He played his final 10 holes in 1-over par, but leads four players by a shot entering tomorrow's final round.

Sophomore Jarle Volden is tied for second after shooting a 2-under par 69 to trail Carlson by one shot. Volden posted five birdies against three bogeys and tallied a birdie on his final hole to move within one shot of the lead.

Senior Austin Eoff and sophomore Timmy Hildebrand are tied for sixth at 1-under par 70. Eoff had 15 pars, two birdies and one bogey on his round, while Hildebrand had five birdies, including back-to-back birdies on Nos. 16 and 17 to offset a double-bogey on No. 14.

Fernando Barco is tied for 34th at 4-over par 75.

The final round will begin with tee times off hole Nos. 1 and 10 at 8:30 a.m. Sunday.
