WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Big Ten Conference has announced that junior linebacker Ja'Whaun Bentley, senior defensive tackle Jake Replogle and senior wide receiver DeAngelo Yancey will represent Purdue at media day and the 45th-Annual Kickoff Luncheon in Chicago. The trio of Boilermakers, along with head coach Darrell Hazell, will take part of media day July 25 and attend the luncheon July 26.
Bentley, a native of Glenarden, Maryland, returns to the field after missing the final seven games of the 2015 season with a knee injury. Despite playing in merely five games last year, he finished sixth for the Boilermakers with 49 total tackles, including 7.5 for loss. In 17 career starts as a true freshman and sophomore at Purdue, he has averaged 7.4 tackles per game. He was voted a captain by his teammates prior to last season.
Replogle, a native of Centerville, Ohio, is a three-year letterwinner who enters the 2016 season with 113 total tackles, 72 solo stops, with 25.5 tackles for loss, five sacks and three PBUs in his collegiate career. He turned in his finest season as a junior last year, finishing fourth on the team with 60 tackles, a team-high 14.0 tackles for loss, a pair of sacks, two PBUs and a blocked kick. He was recently named to the watch list for the 2016 Chuck Bednarik Award.
Yancey, a native of Atlanta, Georgia, bounced back from a down sophomore season in 2014 with an impressive junior campaign last year. He eclipsed his combined freshman and sophomore totals with 48 receptions for 700 yards and five touchdowns last season. For his career, he has tallied 92 catches for 1,393 yards and 10 touchdowns.
