COLUMBUS, Ind. ââ'¬"- The No. 33-ranked Purdue men's golf team rallied late and leads after 18 holes at the weather-shortened Hoosier Collegiate at Otter Creek Golf Course.

The Boilermakers recorded a 3-over par 291 to lead both Marquette and Ball State by two shots entering tomorrow's second and final round.

Today's action was reduced to 18 holes after brutal weather greeted the golfers today. Tournament officials decided to play just 18 holes on Saturday, pushing the starting tee times back to 11 a.m. ET, after the forecast called for temperatures in the high-30s and a strong northerly wind.

Sunday's forecast is much better with temps expected to be in the mid-50s with a chance for rain in the afternoon. Tee times are slated to begin at 9 a.m. ET off hole Nos. 1 and 10.

All five Purdue players are in the top 27 of the field, led by sophomore Brian Carlson in a tie for third place at 1-under par 71, just one shot out of first. Carlson posted a consistent round, posting three birdies against just two bogeys to go along with 13 pars. Carlson was 1-over par through seven holes, but birdied two of his last 11 holes to finish his round at 1-under par.

Fernando Barco is tied for 10th after posting an even-par 72. On just his second hole of the day, Barco recorded a double-bogey, but posted a pair of birdies on the back nine and managed 15 pars on the afternoon for his even-round 72.

Stuart Macdonald is tied for 14th at 1-over par 73 after a whirlwind day on the links. Macdonald was 4-over par after 15 holes, but birdied his final three holes of the day to finish just three shots off the lead with a 73.

Jarle Volden and Austin Eoff are tied for 27th at 3-over par 75.

Individually, freshman Timmy Hildebrand is tied for 10th after an opening-round 72.

Purdue will be paired with Ball State and Marquette and will tee off hole No. 1, beginning with tee times at 10:05 a.m. ET.
