WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. ââ'¬" No. 33 Penn State handed No. 57 Purdue a 4-1 loss on the Basham Courts at the Schwartz Tennis Center on Friday. The Boilermakers suffered just their third loss on their home courts, slipping to 13-7 and 2-4 in Big Ten play. Penn State lifted its record to 18-4 and 4-2 in the league.

No. 39 Gergely Madarasz put Purdue's only point on the board by defeating No. 110 Leonard Stakhovsky 6-2 in both sets. Madarasz, who is undefeated in Big Ten play at the top of the Boilermakers' lineup, extended his winning streak to five while also taking down his fifth ranked opponent.

At the No. 4 slot, Dominik Sochurek lost to Tomas Hanzlik 6-1, 6-2. Lucas Dages dropped his match to Ben Lieb 6-1, 7-6 (1) at the bottom of the lineup to put Penn State up 3-1 in the match.

Matt Barry overcame Ricky Medinilla 6-3, 6-4 at No. 3 to clinch the win for the Nittany Lions and control in the all-time series at 16-15.

In doubles play, the Boilermakers were defeated at Nos. 1 and 3, both by a score of 7-5.

Purdue finishes out the weekend against No. 5 Ohio State at the Schwartz Tennis Center on Sunday. First serves are set for noon ET.
