WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- The No. 70 Purdue women's tennis team's regular season came to an end with a 4-0 loss to sixth-ranked Ohio State while playing outdoors at the Schwartz Tennis Center on Sunday. The Boilermakers slipped to 12-12 and 5-6 in the Big Ten, while the Buckeyes (24-2, 11-0 B1G) clinched the Big Ten title.

In doubles action, Ohio State jumped out to a 1-0 lead after claiming victories at the Nos. 1 and 3 positions with 6-2 decisions. The Buckeye duo of Gabriella De Santis and Sandy Niehaus defeated Purdue's 46th-ranked team of Andjela Djokovic and Nicole Robinson.

Gabriella De Santis and Sandy Niehaus would go on to clinch the doubles point after issuing Purdue's pair of Natalia Davila and Deborah Suarez a setback at No. 3.

The Buckeyes proved to be too much in singles play, taking the Nos. 1, 2 and 5 positions in straight sets.

The Big Ten Tournament awaits the Boilermakers. They will travel to East Lansing, Michigan, for the four-day tournament, which is set to get underway Thursday. The tournament bracket is expected to be released Sunday or Monday.
