LINCOLN, Neb. ââ'¬" In its final road dual match of the season, the 59h-ranked Purdue men's tennis team suffered a 4-2 loss to Nebraska on Sunday at the Sid & Hazel Dillon Tennis Center. The Boilermakers (14-9, 3-6 B1G) captured the doubles point, but the Huskers (12-11, 3-6 B1G) won four of the five completed singles matches to end a seven-match losing streak.

At first glance, the doubles advantage looked like it was going Nebraska's way. At the top of the lineup, the Huskers' brother duo of Dusty and Toby Boyer topped Benjamin Ugarte and Dominik Sochurek 6-1.

Strong showings from the Nos. 2 and 3 spots propelled the Boilermakers. At No. 2, Gergely Madarasz and Ricky Medinilla overcame Nebraska's Marc Herrmann and Scott Elsass 6-4. A 6-3 performance from Mateus Silva and Renan Hanayama vs. Bradford Zitsch and Andrew Dzulynsky allowed Purdue to take the doubles point.

The Boilermakers owned a 10-0 record when winning the doubles point, but Nebraska was determined to change that, starting with a showdown between ranked players.

D. Boyer, ranked 122nd nationally, upended No. 42 Madarasz in straight sets 6-4, 6-2. The loss was the first suffered by Madarasz (17-3) since March 13 and his first in conference play.

At No. 5, Silva defeated Zitsch 6-3, 6-2 to regain the lead for Purdue at 2-1, but that was all the Boilermakers would get in the match.

The Huskers etched out first-set tiebreakers at Nos. 3, 4 and 6 to gain momentum. It started at No. 4 with Nebraska's T. Boyer beating Sochurek 7-6 (2), 6-3, followed by Dzulynsky defeating Medinilla 7-6 (3), 6-4 and Tomislav Anotljak topping Arthur Dobradin 7-6 (1), 6-2 to end the match.

Purdue concludes the regular season at the Schwartz Tennis Center with a pair of matches. On Friday, the Boilermakers will take on Minnesota at 6 p.m. ET and then on Sunday, they will play Wisconsin starting at 10 a.m.
