SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- The 24th-ranked Purdue Boilermaker men's golf team finished fourth place in the Desert Mountain Intercollegiate over the weekend.
Purdue totaled a three-round total of 7-under par 857 (288-289-280) just one stroke behind 48th-ranked Tennessee (282-292-282) for third place. No. 34-ranked Texas A&M totaled a three-round total of 847 (277-287-283) to win the event, four strokes ahead of unranked Michigan.
Brian Carlson led the way for the Boilermakers finishing second overall at 7-under par with a three-round total of 209 (72-72-65) falling one stroke shy of first place. Carlson's final-round 65 ties for the fifth-lowest 18-hole score in school history. He has now finished in the top three four times this year.
Stuart Macdonald finished tied for 10th place at 2-under par with a three-round total score of 214 (73-69-72). Macdonald now has six top-10 finishes in his career. He was 1-under at the turn but bogeyed No. 16 and double bogeyed No. 18 to tally an even-par 72 in the third round.
Luis Fernando Barco placed tied for 21st at 1-over par 217 (70-75-72), while Austin Eoff finished tied for 25th at 2-over par 218 (74-73-71).
Purdue will next travel to Lake Oconee, Georgia, to compete in the Linger Longer Invitational on March 20-22.
