No. 24 Purdue in 5th at Desert Mountain

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. ââ'¬"- The No. 24-ranked Purdue men's golf team finished strong in the second round and sits in fifth place after 36 holes at the Desert Mountain Intercollegiate.

The Boilermakers currently sit in fifth place with a 36-hole total of 1-over par 577 (288-289). Michigan leads the 12-team field at 14-under par 562, two shots ahead of Texas A&M at 12-under par 564. Pepperedine (7-under par) and Tennessee (2-under par) round out the top four teams.

Senior Stuart Macdonald leads the Purdue contingent with a 2-under par 142 (73-69), good for an eighth-place tie, six shots off the individual lead (Texas A&M's Ben Crancer; -8). Macdonald's second-round 69 marked his seventh round this season of even-par or better.

Sophomore Brian Carlson is in a 19th-place tie at even-par 144 (72-72). Carlson finished tied for ninth in this event a year ago.

Fernando Barco is tied for 23rd at 1-over par 145 (70-75), while Austin Eoff is tied for 32nd at 3-over par 147 (74-73). Eoff has placed in the top 10 in eight straight events dating to last year.

Jarle Volden is tied for 49th at 7-over par 151 (73-78).

Purdue will be paired with Tennessee and Saint Mary's in the final round at the Outlaw Course, teeing off at 10 a.m. ET / 8 a.m. MT.
