Results: OSU NCAA Last Chance / Purdue LCM Time Trials

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Emmy Rawson's new program record in the 200 butterfly highlighted the day for Purdue women's swimming as selected Boilermakers competed at Ohio State's NCAA Last Chance meet Sunday.

Rawson posted a 200 fly time of 1:56.52 in the prelims, eclipsing Rhiannon Sheets' Purdue record (1:56.67) from the 2011 Ohio State Invitational. Rawson sliced more than a full second off her career-best time (1:57.81) in the event she set a week ago at the Big Ten Championships.

Last season a swimmer's season-best time had to be ranked among the top 38 to 40 nationally (depending on the event) to qualify for the NCAA Championships as an individual. Based on the data compiled by CollegeSwimming.com, Rawson's 200 fly time is currently 26th nationally.

Meagan Lim (100 fly), Annie Spalding (100 and 200 breaststroke) and Hanna House (100 backstroke) also moved up or joined a Purdue all-time top-10 list in an event Sunday.

Lim posted a career-best time of 53.01 in the 100 fly, improving on her second-fastest time in program history. Annie Spalding had career-best times in the 100 (1:01.78) and 200 breast (2:14.05), moving into sixth and third place in the record book, respectively. House finished a 100 back time trial with her best time (54.84) as a Boilermaker, moving into sixth place in team history. All aforementioned times represent NCAA provisional-qualifying times.

This marks the second year in a row the Purdue record in a butterfly event has changed hands at a last chance meet. Last year it was Kylie Vogel setting the current benchmark of 52.85 in the 100 fly at the Boiler-Make-It NCAA Last Chance meet. Two years ago, Lim established the current Purdue freshman record (53.77) in the 100 fly at the Boiler-Make-It meet. The Purdue women were unable to host their otherwise annual NCAA Last Chance meet this year due to the Boilermaker Aquatic Center serving as the host site of the Men's Big Ten Championships.

Selected Purdue swimmers from both the men's and women's teams also competed Sunday at the LCM time trials meet at the Boilermaker Aquatic Center. Iowa, Michigan State, Northwestern, Penn State and Illinois State also had swimmers in attendance. Student-athletes were striving to post qualifying times for their respective countries' Olympic Trials this summer.

The women's swimming qualifiers for the NCAA Championships are expected to be announced Tuesday or Wednesday of the coming week.
