WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Purdue men's swimming and diving opened the Big Ten Championships on Wednesday evening by posting the second-fastest times in program history in a pair of relays.

Purdue finished seventh in both the 200 medley and 800 freestyle relays on the opening night of the seven-session meet at the Boilermaker Aquatic Center. Stephen Seliskar, Marat Amaltdinov, Austin Flager and Adam Johnston teamed up for a time of 1:26.60 in the 200 medley relay. Josh Brooks, Danny Conway, Josh Ehrman and Filip Bujoczek turned in a time 6:28.05 in the 800 free relay.

In the Purdue record book, both times rank behind only the program records established last season on the opening night of Big Tens.

Brooks' 200 split of 1:36.68 on the opening leg of the 800 free relay was a personal best and good for the sixth fastest in program history. Bujoczek's anchor split of 1:36.52 ranked as the top mark for the Boilermakers in the event.

No. 5 Michigan swept the opening-night relays with a pair of new pool record times at the Boilermaker Aquatic Center, winning the 200 medley in 1:24.12 and rallying to take the 800 free in 6:15.04. Both NCAA automatic-qualifying times eclipsed pool records established by at the 2009 Big Ten Championships.

The Big Ten Championships continue Thursday with prelims at 11 a.m. and finals at 6:30 p.m.
