ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Four new records and four scoring finishes in two individual events highlighted Friday's action at the Big Ten Championships for Purdue women's swimming and diving.

Allie Davis and Nika Karlina Petric broke their own Purdue benchmarks in the 200 freestyle and 400 individual medley respectively. Ignited by Jackie Smailis' new team freshman record (54.56) on the opening 100 backstroke leg of the 400 medley relay, the quartet of Smailis, Emily Fogle, Meagan Lim and Kaersten Meitz posted a new program record (3:35.52) in the event.

Davis, Fogle, Lim and Petric all qualified for A finals in their events Friday, accounting for a combined 102.5 team points. Davis was the runner-up in the 200 free, good for the top individual showing of her career at Big Tens. It took a Big Ten-record time of 1:43.51 from Michigan's standout freshman Siobhan Haughey to beat Davis, whose time of 1:44.21 in the finals also eclipsed the previous pool record entering the day. Davis has now sliced nearly a full second off the previous Purdue-record time in the 200 free entering the season (1:45.16).

Fogle took third while racing in her fourth career 100 breaststroke A final. Petric broke the 400 individual medley record at Big Tens for the second year in a row, posting a time of 4:12.75 in the prelims and later placing seventh in the A final.

Lim posted the second-fastest time in program history (53.21) in the 100 butterfly while finishing tied for fifth in the A final, the best individual showing of her career at Big Tens.

The Boilermakers moved up from seventh to fifth place in the team scoring Friday, leapfrogging Wisconsin and Penn State. Purdue entered the day trailing the fifth-place Badgers by 26.5 points but held a 24-point edge on the sixth-place Nittany Lions by the end of the night. The Boilermakers racked up 40-plus team points in the 200 free (47), 100 fly (46.5) and 100 breast (45) Friday. Four Boilermakers scored in both the 100 fly and 100 breast.

Mary Beth Dunninchay (2nd in 3-meter diving), Kaersten Meitz (6th in 200 free), Emmy Rawson (8th in 100 fly) qualified for B finals to account for a combined 41 team points.

One day after setting a new Purdue freshman record in the 200 IM, Alex Clarke posted the third-fastest time in program history (4:16.47) while finishing as the runner-up in the C final of the 400 IM. Fellow freshman Breanna Robinson scored in two individual events Friday, winning the C final of the 100 fly and taking third in the C final of the 100 back as Purdue's top finisher in the event.

Smailis initially broke the team's freshman record with a time of 54.70 in the prelims, later finishing fourth in the C final. She and Robinson (54.71) now rank three-four on program's all-time top-10 list in the event.

Caroline Weigand and Cady Farlow finished one-two in the C final of the 100 breast and improved their spots on the event's all-time top-10 list with career-best times. Taite Kitchel (100 fly), Madison Monteiro (400 IM) and Meitz (200 free) did likewise Friday.

The Boilermakers have now established six new records this week at Big Tens -- three new individual marks, two more of the freshman variety and the 400 medley relay record.

The Big Ten Championships conclude Saturday with prelims at 11 a.m. and finals at 6:30 p.m.
