PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. -- The Purdue women's tennis duo of Tess Bernard-Feigenbaum and Krisztina Kapitany punched their ticket into the Round of 16 at the Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships on Tuesday at the Riviera Tennis Club.
Playing side-by-side for the first time in their respective careers, Bernard-Feigenbaum and Kapitany easily handled Pepperdine's Apichaya Runglerdkriangkrai and Luisa Stefani with an 8-3 decision.
In Wednesday's Round of 16, the 46th-ranked tandem collides with No. 23 Kate Vialle and Ashley Dai of North Carolina. The Tar Heels trumped Maryland's Kristina Hovsepyan and Ekaterina Tour 8-2 in the Round of 32. Match time Wednesday has yet to be announced.
Bernard-Feigenbaum, who is tied at No. 114 nationally in the preseason singles rankings, was also in qualifying action against Frances Altick of Vanderbilt in the Round of 64. The 49th-ranked Commodore tripped Bernard-Feigenbaum up with a 6-0, 6-2 setback, forcing her to exit from the draw.
