GREENSBORO, N.C. ââ'¬"- The No. 21-ranked Purdue men's golf team continued its red-hot play on Sunday, leading after 36 holes at the Bridgestone Golf Collegiate at the Grandover Resort.

The Boilermakers totaled a 36-hole total of 33-under par 543 (277-266) to lead No. 12 North Carolina by four shots (275-272=547). Northwestern is third at 13-under par 563 (290-273).

Purdue's 22-under 266 is the best round in the 11-year history of the Bridgestone Golf Collegiate and surpasses the previous school-record score of 270 set during the third round of the USF Invitational on March 4, 2014. In addition, the 11-under par 277 in the first round is tied for the fifth-lowest, 18-hole score in school history.

Five of the 11 rounds of 277 or better in Purdue school history have come during the brief Rob Bradley era, which started before the 2013-14 season.

Leading Purdue's charge was junior Austin Eoff, who leads the tournament with a 13-under par score of 131 (64-67). Eoff's first-round 64 marked the fourth-lowest, 18-hole score in school history and the lowest for a Purdue golfer since Nov. 2006. His 131 is the lowest 36-hole score in school history by three shots.

Eoff was sensational on Sunday, registering 16 birdies against just three bogeys in his first 36 holes. During his first round, he was 1-over par through two holes, then managed to birdie nine of his next 16 holes, including four straight birdies late in his round for his 8-under par 64. He would keep it going in the second round for a 5-under par 67 to lead North Carolina's Henry Do by two shots after 36 holes.

Eoff wasn't the only one to turn in stellar rounds on day one. Sophomore Brian Carlson is third at 9-under par 135 (70-65), just four shots behind Eoff's pace. After his opening-round 70, Carlson fired a career-best 65, which tied for the fifth-best round in school history. Carlson was 3-under par through 12 holes before a eagle on his 13th hole (No. 18) moved him to 5-under par. He then birdied three of his last four holes to offset a bogey sandwiched between them for his 65.

Junior Fernando Barco had a steady day, sitting in a ninth-place tie at 4-under par 140 (71-69). Barco's second round featured three birdies against zero bogeys as he searches for yet another top-10 finish on Monday.

Senior Stuart Macdonald is tied for 30th at 1-over par 145 (72-73), while freshman Jarle Volden had a wild day on the links, sitting tied for 34th at 2-over par 146 (81-65). His 65 is tied for the fifth-best round in school history and is tied for the lowest score by a freshman in school history (Adam Schenk, David Gersztein, Brad Chesterman). The highlight of the day came on the par-4 fourth hole when Volden holed out a wedge from 124 yards for an eagle to move him to 6-under par for his round.

Purdue's counting scores in the second round were 65, 65, 67 and 69.

Individually, freshman Nate Pirtle is 79th at 16-over par 160 (83-77).

Purdue will wrap up the fall season with the final round of the Bridgestone Golf Collegiate on Monday, beginning at 8:30 a.m. ET at the Grandover Resort. Purdue will be paired with North Carolina and Northwestern and is looking for its second team title of the fall campaign after winning the Windon Memorial Classic in September.
