WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. ââ'¬" Purdue's Deborah Suarez shined in Day 3 of the USTA/ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championships with a trio of consolation victories. Two of those victories came in doubles with the help of her partner Krisztina Kapitany. Action picks back up Sunday on the Basham Courts of the Schwartz Tennis Center with the doubles semifinals in the main draw starting at 8:30 a.m. ET, followed by both the quarterfinals and the semifinals of the singles main draw.
Suarez and Kapitany first bested Morehead State's Aleksandra Savic and Ayaka Terashi with an 8-0 shutout. In their second consolation doubles match, the senior duo took on and defeated Megan Brdicka and Elaine Cloern of Wright State 8-4.
In consolation singles, Suarez completed a straight-set 6-3, 6-3 victory over Morehead State's Zina Mehikic. Marta Ruedas-Burgos also picked up a win for the Boilermakers with a 6-3, 7-6 (4) win against Karoline Haller of Wright State.
Three Boilermakers, Andjela Djokovic, Nicole Robinson and Suarez, will play in consolation singles matches Sunday starting at 8:30 a.m.
