WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- The Black Team won six of the 11 events, but the Gold Team emerged victorious 105-100 in Purdue men's swimming's intrasquad Friday evening at the Boilermaker Aquatic Center.

The Gold Team had at least three of the top five finishers in seven of the nine individual events. Gold took a 99-89 lead into the final event of the night, the 400 freestyle relay. The Black Team won the event but was unable to produce the one-two finish it needed in the relay to overcome the deficit.

Josh Brooks swept the 500 and 1,000 freestyle for the Black Team, out touching Nate Hopkins in both distance events. The 500 free featured Brooks (4:41.46), Hopkins (4:41.57) and Jackson Higgins (4:41.97) all finishing within the same half of a second of each other.

Alumni Danny Tucker (Gold) and Guillermo Blanco (Black) proved they're still among the fastest at the Boilermaker Aquatic Center by winning a pair of events apiece. Tucker also anchored the Gold Team's top 400 medley relay to victory.

Freshman Joe Young won the 200 backstroke for the Black Team. Marat Amaltdinov (200 breast) and Josh Ehrman (200 free) were also victorious in individual events.

The Boilermakers return to action for Saturday's Indiana Intercollegiates co-ed meet, which begins at noon.
