Boilermakers Cruise to Victory at Miami

OXFORD, Ohio -- Purdue women's swimming and diving was victorious in 15 of the 16 events to roll to a 165-106 dual meet win at Miami (Ohio) on Friday evening.

The Boilermakers had at least the top three finishers in eight of the 14 individual events. Allie Davis led the way and demonstrated her versatility with a sweep of the 50, 200 and 500 freestyle races. Samm Reese swept the springboard diving events. Freshman Taite Kitchel (200 fly and 200 IM) was also a two-time winner.

Freshman Breanna Robinson was victorious in the 100 backstroke and also contributed to both relay wins. Classmate Danielle Auckley was also part of both relay winners, anchoring the 200 medley quartet. Upperclassmen Emily Fogle (100 breast), Grace Hernandez (100 free) and Davis chipped in on a relay winner to go along with an individual event victory.

The men's divers also competed Friday at Miami's Nixon Aquatic Center. Joe Cifelli swept the springboard events in his collegiate debut. The team points earned by the divers will carry over to the Oct. 30 Purdue-Miami dual meet at the Boilermaker Aquatic Center.

Meagan Lim (100 fly), Kaersten Meitz (1000 free) and Haley Rowley (200 back) rounded out the list of individual event winners for the Boilermakers. The 200 breaststroke was the only event Purdue did not win.

The Boilermaker Aquatic Center is set to host Saturday's co-ed Indiana Intercollegiates meet, featuring nine colleges from the around the state. Action begins at noon.
