WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. ââ'¬" Purdue's Natalia Davila earned a berth in the USTA/ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championships singles main draw after winning two matches in qualifying action Thursday. The junior joined a trio of Boilermakers in the 64-player draw, which gets underway Friday at 11:45 a.m. ET. The second day of competition opens on the Basham Courts of the Schwartz Tennis Center and the Lafayette Sports Center with two rounds of doubles starting at 8 a.m.

Davila stumbled in her first set against Ball State's Julia Sbircea, falling 6-3. She claimed the second set 6-2 to force a third set, to which she prevailed in the breaker 7-6 (6). In the round of 16 Davila responded in commanding fashion with a 6-4, 6-2 showing over Hanna Sohn of Memphis, lifting her into the main draw.

Purdue also had Andjela Djokovic, Claudia Escribens and Marta Ruedas-Burgos in the qualifying singles draw, but each suffered defeat in their first match.

Davila was one of eight to emerge from the qualifying draw and move into the main draw. She joins fellow Boilermakers Krisztina Kapitany, Nicole Robinson and Deborah Suarez in the draw.

In Friday's doubles main draw for Purdue, Djokovic and Robinson take to the court at 8 a.m., and Davila and Suarez are set to go on at 8:45 a.m.

No-ad scoring is being used in both singles and doubles. Doubles play consists of a minimum of an eight-game pro set (tiebreak at seven-all), with the semifinals and finals doubles matches being decided by two out of three sets.
