PEORIA, Ill. -- Purdue's Claudia Escribens and Grace Schaffer completed the Bradley Invitational with a runner-up finish in the Flight A doubles Sunday at David Markin Tennis Courts.
The Boilermakers, who were seeded second in the draw, were dealt an 8-6 setback by top-seeded Kadi Ilves and Marcia Tere-Apisah of Illinois State. Escribens and Schaffer finished their first fall tournament of the season with a 2-1 record.
They earned a spot in the finals thanks to an 8-6 win over Chicago duo of Kaela Bynoe and Ariana Iranpour on Saturday. In their first match Friday, the senior and freshman notched an 8-2 decision over another Chicago team, Rachel Kim and Courtney Warren.
Fall competition continues for the Boilermakers when they host the three-day Purdue Invite starting Friday at the Schwartz Tennis Center.
