Boilermakers In 11th Place After 36 Holes at 3M Augusta Invitational

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- The Purdue men's golf team faltered late in the second round and sits in an 11th-place tie at the 3M Augusta Invitational held at Forest Hills Golf Course in Augusta, Ga.

The Boilermakers are in 11th place with a 36-hole total of 3-over par 579 after rounds of 290 and 289. The Boilermakers are tied with Coastal Carolina and UCF for 11th place, but are just three shots out of eighth place, currently held by No. 20-ranked Oklahoma State. New Mexico leads after 36 holes at 18-under par, one shot ahead of No. 2-ranked Illinois. Augusta State (-16), Virginia Tech (-14) and Texas and Georgia (-12) round out the top five.

The tournament features eight of the nation's top 37 ranked teams and 12 of the nation's top 100 squads.

Purdue was in eighth place until the final three holes for each player. The Boilermakers played those 15 combined holes in 5-over par to fall three spots entering tomorrow's final round.

Sophomore Austin Eoff had another solid day, leading the Boilermakers with a 3-under par 141 (71-70), to currently be in a 15th-place tie. Eoff has finished in the top 25 in six straight events and of his 25 rounds played this year, 11 have been at or below par.

Senior Enzo Perez continued his resurgence with an opening-day 1-under par 143 (71-72). Perez currently sits in a 30th-place tie as he looks for his second-straight top 30 finish. Perez has now been at or under par in four of his last five rounds.

Freshman Brian Carlson recovered from a tough opening round to finish at 3-over par 147 (75-72), good for a 54th-place tie. Carlson now has five rounds of par or better this year.

Senior Ben-Marvin Egel is tied for 60th at 4-over par 148 (73-75), while junior Stuart Macdonald is 73rd at 11-over par 155 (80-75).

The Boilermakers will be paired with Clemson and Coastal Carolina and will tee off on hole No. 10, beginning at 8:55 PM (ET).
