WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -  The Boilermakers were again in full pads after doing so the first time last Thursday for spring practices. The linebackers have continued to improve all spring, after starting two freshmen and a sophomore last season for much of the year.

The offense looked better on Thursday, according to head coach Darrell Hazell. The Boilermakers worked on 7-on-7 and other full offense vs. defense drills.

Ja'Whaun Bentley got a lot stronger in the offseason, both physically and as a leader. The rising sophomore is set to hold down the middle of the linebacking corps and has focused a great deal on being more vocal.

Jimmy Herman talked to the media after practice and noted that he is much more comfortable with his position, and added that he could likely go into the film room and point out several mistakes he made during practice. The rising junior is working on developing consistency, not just for himself, but the group of linebackers. His full interview can be found below.

Linebackers coach Marcus Freeman told the media that he wants to keep trying to make his guys uncomfortable in everything they do to help them be successful. He noted that his group has had a passion for learning and getting better, and that is exactly what he wants to see. His full interview can be found below.

Hazell also spoke to the media. He mentioned some rotational changes at running back and small moves on the defensive side. His interview is at the bottom of the page.

Purdue announced on last week that the team will practice April 9th at Arsenal Tech High School's Howard Longshore Stadium, located at 1500 East Michigan Street in Indianapolis. The practice is scheduled to run from 4:30 to 6:15 p.m. and free and open to the public. The Jersey Scrimmage time is also set. It will commence at 9:45 a.m. in Ross-Ade Stadium April 11.

The Boilermakers have seven more springs practices, all of which are free and open to the public. Other than the April 9 practice, the weekday practices will be held either indoors at Mollenkopf or, weather permitting, outside at the Bimel Complex and begin at approximately 3:30 p.m. ET. Each practice will be about two hours long. Saturday scrimmage times are still to be announced, but will be held in Ross-Ade Stadium. The remaining practice schedule is below.
