WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Spring football practice began on Tuesday afternoon inside the Mollenkopf Athletic Center. The Boilermakers had a high-energy two-hour workout in helmets and jerseys.
Tuesday marked the first official practice for Purdue's five early enrollees, Elijah Sindelar, Markell Jones, Anthony Mahoungou, Michael Mendez and Ben Makowski. The Boilermakers also had a few coaching moves, as new tight ends coach Terry Malone worked his first practice, Gerad Parker slid over to wide receivers from the tight ends where he was the previous two seasons and defensive coordinator Greg Hudson began coaching the defensive ends.
Head coach Darrell Hazell was very pleased with his team's energy and thought the group had a pretty clean practice. The third-year head man talked to the media afterwards and portions of his comments can be found below.
Purdue has 14 more springs practices, all of which are free and open to the public. The weekday practices will be held either indoors at Mollenkopf or, weather permitting, outside at the Bimel Complex and begin at approximately 3:30 p.m. ET. Each practice will be about two hours long. Saturday scrimmage times are still to be announced, but will be held in Ross-Ade Stadium. The remaining practice schedule is below.
