IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Four top five finishes in A finals coupled with four Boilermakers scoring in two different events helped Purdue men's swimming and diving remain in fourth place Friday at the Big Ten Championships.

The Boilermakers (252.5 Points) will enter the final day of competition Saturday with a 2.5-point lead on fifth-place Wisconsin and a 10.5-point advantage on sixth-place Minnesota. If Purdue can hold on to fourth place through Saturday night, it would match the program's highest finish (most recently in 2010).

Steele Johnson finished as the runner-up in the championship final of 3-meter diving, taking second in a springboard event for the second night in a row. The freshman improved on his second-best score in program history in the finals (476.05 points), but it was not enough to beat Indiana's James Conner (494.60).

Guillermo Blanco (4th in 400 IM), Lyam Dias (4th in 100 breast) and Jamie Bissett (5th on 3-meter) also recorded top five finishes in the A finals of their primary events Friday. Including Johnson, the four top fives accrued 61 team points for Purdue.

Danny Conway won the B final of the 400 IM in a race that also featured Jan Karel Petric and Adam Noens. The Boilers scored 29 team points in the event. Nate Cox and Sean Mokhtari qualified for the consolation final of 3-meter diving to push Purdue's point total in that event to 39.

Conway's career-best time of 3:47.73 while winning the B final of the 400 IM was good for fifth fastest in program history. Petric improved on his career-best time (3:48.60) in the prelims and Adam Noens (3:50.36) moved into eighth place on the program's all-time list. Josh Brooks won the C final of the 400 IM.

Stephen Seliskar (47.53) and Austin Flager (47.54) finished one hundredth of a second apart in the prelims of the 100 butterfly to qualify for the B final, moving up into fourth and fifth place in Purdue history, respectively.

Seliskar and Flager were also part of Purdue's 200 free relay team, joining forces with Nate Thomas and Adam Johnston to post the fifth-fastest time (1:18.92) in program history while finishing sixth. Johnston led the way with an anchor split of 19.28.

Freshman Marat Amaltdinov qualified for the B final of the 100 breast and improved on his sixth-fastest time (53.96) in program history in the prelims.

Despite opting not to race in the C final of the event in the evening session, Jes Stephens (1:37.04) and Josh Ehrman (1:37.89) moved into the all-time Top 10 rankings in the 200 freestyle after posting career-best times in the prelims.

The final day of the Big Ten Championships features prelims at noon ET and finals at 7:30 p.m. ET.
