GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The Purdue men's golf team wrapped up its fall campaign on Sunday with an 11th-place finish at the Bridgestone Golf Collegiate at the Grandover Resort in Greensboro, North Carolina.
The Boilermakers finished in 11th place (out of 13 teams) with a 54-hole total of 32-over par 896 (304-294-298). North Carolina won the tournament at 15-under par 849, while Virginia Tech was second at 3-under par 861. Chattanooga was third at 8-over par 872.
Purdue struggled all tournament long and could never get anything going. The Boilermakers had just one player finish in the top 30 and one more in the top 50. Purdue recorded the fewest amount of pars in the tournament with 149. Marquette was 12th in the field with 156.
However, sophomore Austin Eoff had an excellent tournament, recording his first top-five finish of the season, and third of his career, with a tie for fifth performance at 2-under par 214 (75-69-70). Eoff had six birdies on his round and outside of a double-bogey hiccup on the par-4 1st hole, Eoff played a very solid round.
Stuart Macdonald finished tied for 35th at 8-over par 224 (75-76-73). Macdonald was 2-under par before bogeying his final three holes to finish 1-over par for his round.
Fernando Barco finished tied for 54th at 13-over par 229 (77-75-77). Barco was 2-over par through 13 holes today, before playing the last five holes in 3-over par to drop him back.
Justin Cho finished tied for 64th at 16-over par 232 (78-74-80) while Philippe Schweizer was tied for 69th at 19-over par 235 (77-80-78). As an individual, Brian Carlson placed tied for 71st at 21-over par 237 (76-80-81).
The tournament concludes Purdue's fall season. The Boilermakers will resume their season next February with the Big Ten Match Play Championship in Palm Beach, Fla.
