WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Allie Davis, Mary Beth Dunnichay and Stephen Seliskar each won a pair of individual events to lead the way as the Purdue swimming and diving teams had the top scores among a large field of competitors at the Indiana Intercollegiates Saturday afternoon to cap the season-opening weekend at the Boilermaker Aquatic Center.

The Purdue women won seven individual events and both relays, scoring 786.5 points to place first among 10 teams. The Purdue men won nine individual events as well as the 200 medley relay, scoring 733 points to finish first among the nine teams.

Davis won the 200 and 500 freestyle and helped her 200 free relay team win the event. She posted strong early-season times in the 200 (1:49.06) and 500 (4:51.67). The Boilers had the top five finishers in the 200 free.

Dunnichay swept the diving events for the second day in a row to finish the weekend a perfect 4-for-4 on the springboards. MacKenzie Tweardy was the runner-up in both diving events Saturday.

Seliskar was victorious in the 50 free and 100 backstroke. He also swam the leadoff backstroke leg on the 200 medley relay team that opened the meet with a victory.

Lyam Dias recorded a strong early-season time of 54.92 while winning the 100 breaststroke. He was also part of the victorious medley relay team with Guillermo Blanco, Jes Stephens and Seliskar.

Kylie Vogel demonstrated her versatility by winning the 50 free, finishing as the runner-up in the 100 back and swimming the butterfly leg on the victorious 200 medley relay team. Nika Karlina Petric did likewise by winning the 200 IM, placing third in the final heat of the 500 free and anchoring the 200 free relay to victory.

For the men's divers, Jamie Bissett won from the 1-meter springboard and finished second to teammate Steele Johnson on 3-meter. Johnson surpassed the 400-point mark with his list for the second day in a row.

Josh Brooks was victorious in the 200 IM and took third as Purdue's top finisher in the 100 free. Josh Ehrman won the 200 free, Danny Conway paced himself to a 500 free victory and Blanco was victorious in the 100 fly.

Trish Regan won the 100 fly to round out the women's winners.

The Purdue women and the men's divers are back in action Friday for a triple dual with Cincinnati and Ohio State in Columbus. It will be the first of many trips to the state capital of Ohio for both groups this year. The Purdue men are idle until taking on Miami (Ohio) at an Oct. 30 dual in Oxford.
