NOBLESVILLE, Ind. -- The Purdue men's golf team struggled in the middle part of both of the first two rounds and sits in eighth place after 36 holes of the 14-team Sagamore Fall Preview held at the Sagamore Golf Club in Noblesville.

The Boilermakers pieced together rounds of 298-300 to finish at 22-over par 598. However, the Boilermakers are just eight shots behind Northern Illinois (+14), which sits in third place. No. 1-ranked Illinois (-6) and No. 8-ranked Auburn (+2) are in first and second, respectively.

Sophomore Austin Eoff led the Boilermakers through 36 holes, finishing the first two rounds in 3-over par 147 (73-74), good for a 12th-place tie. In round one, Eoff birdied the first two holes and was 1-under par through 16 holes, before a double-bogey on his 17th hole (the par-4 3rd hole) dropped him to over par for his round. In round two, Eoff was even-par through 10 holes after back-to-back birdies on Nos. 14 and 15, before bogeying his 12th and 15th holes to fall to 2-over for his round. For the day, Eoff finished with six birdies, five bogeys and two double-bogeys.

Sophomore Fernando Barco had a solid day, finishing 36 holes in a 20th-place tie at 5-over par 149 (73-76). Barco started his day with bogeys on his first two holes, but battled back to get to 1-under par through eight holes. He would bogey the next two holes and finished his final eight holes in even-par for his opening-round 73. In his second round, he started off 5-over par through 10 holes, but played the final eight holes in 1-under par to finish with a 4-over par 76.

Junior Stuart Macdonald is in a 38th-place tie after rounds of 78-74=152 (+8). Macdonald bogeyed three of his first four holes and could never get going in the opening round to finish with a 78. However, he used two eagles on the front nine to finish his second round with a 2-over par 74.

Sophomore Philippe Schweizer is in a 45th-place tie at 9-over par 153 (77-76). Schweizer could manage just two birdies and he bogeyed two of his final three holes for an opening-round 77. He then bogeyed his first three holes of the second round, but played the final 15 holes in 1-over par for his second-round 76.

Senior Ben-Marvin Egel is tied for 57th at 13-over par 157 (75-82). Egel was able to just record two birdies on the day and could never recovered from a tough start.

Individually, senior Justin Cho is tied for 20th after rounds of 75-74=149 (+5). Cho had eight birdies on his day, including three straight in the second round, in his first action of the season.

Purdue will tee off the final round at 8:30 am (ET) off hole No. 1, and is paired with Indiana and Eastern Michigan.
