WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The No. 11 Purdue volleyball team closed out Day 1 of the Active Ankle Challenge with a 3-0 sweep of Morehead State. The Boilermakers (9-2) won the match 25-19, 25-14, 25-12.

The Boilermakers won the match handily behind a balanced and efficient offensive attack that saw seven different players post four of more kills and nine players tally at least one putaway. Despite spreading the ball around, the Boilers hit at a perky .455 clip, while holding MSU to a .148 effort.

Senior Val Nichol, redshirt sophomore Faye Adelaja and freshman Lydia Dimke posted eight kills apiece, each hitting over .500 on the night. Dimke was 8-for-10 with no errors, Adelaja was 8-for-15 with no errors and Nichol was 8-for-9. Purdue committed just seven hitting errors in the match.

Defensively, junior Amanda Neill pulled up eight digs to lead the way followed by redshirt freshman Ashley Evans with seven. Nine different players were credited with a dig for Purdue. At the net, senior KiKi Jones paced the Boilers with six stuffs as Purdue outblocked the Eagles 8-3. The team also found success at the service line with five aces, including two by Evans.

Adelaja got the Boilers rolling with six kills in a 25-19 opening stanza win. The teams split the first 10 points of the night, but Purdue pulled ahead 11-5 with help from a kill and two blocks from Jones. An ace by Nichol made it a seven point game, but Morehead answered with four straight to cut the margin to 14-11. A kill by Stahl and an Eagle error put Purdue up 21-16. Two kills and a stuff by Adelaja sealed the set at 25-19.

Seven Boilers notched putaways in Set 2 as Purdue hit .517 to Morehead State's .057 in a 25-14 win. Purdue did not commit a hitting error in 29 swings as Dimke led the way with four putaways. The Eagles led 5-1 early in the set, but the Boilermakers charged back to take a 9-6 lead after an ace by Dimke and a kill by junior Sam Epenesa. Morehead State was within one at 9-8, but Purdue broke off a 11-3 run to put the set out of reach at 20-11. Dimke racked up three of her kills in the rally, while Jones chipped in two blocks. Kills by Dimke, Jones and Epenesa capped the 25-14 win.

The Boilermakers led Set 3 from start to finish as Nichol and Dimke put down four kills apiece and freshman Stahl added three. Purdue put up two blocks and got kills from three different players en route to a 6-3 lead. Morehead State kept it close, pulling within one at 6-5, but after that it was all Purdue. Stahl and Dimke each pounded down three kills in an 11-3 run that boosted the Boiler lead to 17-8. An ace by redshirt sophomore Kate Workman made it 22-11. An MSU service error and kills by redshirt junior Kaisley Fisher and Nichol secured the sweep.

Purdue (9-2) wraps up the Active Ankle Challenge at 8 p.m. ET against Notre Dame in Mackey Arena. Students are admitted free to the event. Patrons with a Southern Illinois/Purdue football ticket stub get in for just $2. Other tickets are $5 for the lower bowl and $2 for upper bowl seating. The match, which will determine the tournament champion, will air live on the Big Ten Network.
