WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Boilermakers are pretty close to finalizing their starters on offense, defense and special teams, head coach Darrell Hazell said after Tuesday's practice. The team was in helmets and shoulder pads ahead of Wednesday's Kick Scrimmage.

The defense is playing with a lot more confidence and the team chemistry is better, according to second-year linebacker/rush end Danny Ezechukwu. Despite that fact, defensive coordinator Greg Hudson is upset with how many interceptions his group has dropped thus far in camp. That problem, though, is not something he doesn't think will be corrected before the season opener.

According to Hazell, Paul Griggs is slightly ahead in the field goal kicking battle, but that could change based on performance in Wednesday's practice. Full interviews from Hazell, Hudson and Ezechukwu can be found below.
