COLUMBUS, Ohio - The 37th-ranked Purdue women's tennis team had its five-match winning streak halted by No. 49 Ohio State with a 5-2 loss while playing indoors at the Varsity Tennis Center Sunday. With the loss, the Boilermakers slip to 10-8 overall and 6-3 in the Big Ten, while the Buckeyes moved to 16-7, 6-3 Big Ten.

Ohio State got out to a fast start in doubles and never looked back. Playing in the No. 3 spot, the 75th-ranked duo of freshmen Miho Kowase and Ferny Angeles Paz posted an 8-2 decision over Purdue's Nicole Robinson and Claudia Escribens. The doubles point was awarded to the Buckeyes with Gabriella De Santis and Sandy Niehaus' 8-3 victory against Krisztina Kapitany and Natalia Davila in the No. 2 position.

Boilermaker freshman Andjela Djokovic won her fifth straight match while playing as the No. 5 singles, posting a straight set, 6-3, 6-2, win over Nicole Flower. The Jindalee, Australia, native pushed her record to 13-4, but her win came too late as Ohio State had clinched the match by taking the first three singles contests at Nos. 1, 3 and 4.

Escribens was credited with earning Purdue's second team point courtesy of her dramatic 6-3, 7-6 (7-4) victory at No. 6 over Grainne O'Neill. The sophomore is undefeated at 5-0 since entering the lineup at No. 6 on March 28.

The Purdue women's tennis team will close out the regular season at the Schwartz Tennis Center by hosting Michigan State on April 19 and Michigan on April 20. First serves for both matches are scheduled for 12 p.m. ET.
