WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue head football coach Darrell Hazell announced that Mike Waugh has been hired as director of player personnel. Waugh joins the Boilermakers after two years at Cincinnati as the director of recruiting and the previous three seasons at Marshall in the same capacity.
"We are thrilled to have Mike join our staff as the director of player personnel and run the day-to-day operations of recruiting," Hazell said. "He is an innovator and on the cutting edge of ideas in the recruiting world."
A native of Cleveland, Waugh earned a bachelor's degree in sports science from Ohio University in 2008 and a master's degree in athletic administration from Marshall in 2010.
Waugh started his career as a football operations intern and recruiting assistant at Ohio while an undergraduate. He moved on to Marshall in 2008, where he served as the acting director of high school relations in 2009 and 2010 before being named permanently to the role in 2010. His time in Huntington coincided for a year with current Purdue tight ends coach and recruiting coordinator Gerad Parker.
At Cincinnati, Waugh oversaw the day-to-day operations of the recruiting program, including database management, organizing all official and unofficial visits, coordinating special events associated with recruiting, managing the current roster and recruiting budgets as well as administering all recruiting paperwork including transcripts and scholarship documents.
