WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The 54th-ranked Purdue men's tennis team continued its winning ways by shutting out Bradley, 7-0, Saturday on the Basham Courts of the Schwartz Tennis Center. With their first shutout of the season, the Boilermakers pushed their record to 5-1, 0-0 Big Ten. The Braves fall to 2-6, 0-0 The Valley and were blanked by Purdue for the second straight season.

"It was to see us play someone other than each other since we had a two week break," head men's tennis coach Pawel Gajdzik said. "We could tell the guys were anxious to get out there. It great to see Lucas [Dages] play the way he did as a freshman in that spot. We were able to dominate today and this win will definitely help us down the road."

Ricky Medinilla and Lucas Dages clinched the doubles point for the Boilermakers against the Braves' team of Ashton Kalhor and Daniel Tiboldi, 8-3, while playing in the No. 3 spot. It was the first time the freshmen have played a doubles match together. Playing in the No. 2 spot, Mark Kovacs and Mateus Silva also took their opponents Arthur Romanet and Justin Abrams, 8-3. The Purdue duo moved to 2-0.

Medinilla (3-3) clinched the win for the Boilermakers by posting a 6-2, 6-3 decision over Hamis Weerasingha at No. 1 singles. Senior Mark Kovacs dominated, only giving up one game in the No. 2 spot to Arthur Romanet in a 6-1, 6-0 straight-set victory to move his record to 5-1.

In a hard fought battle at No. 3, Aaron Dujovne secured the shutout by beating Bradley's Sergio Rakitin, 6-2, 6-2. The senior from Santiago, Chile, is now 4-1 the season while seeing action in the Nos. 3 and 4 spots.

It will be a quick turnaround for the Boilermakers as they host DePaul March 5 at 4 p.m. ET in a USTA College MatchDay battle. The festivities start at 3 p.m. with the Brian Cardinal Challenge. All of the details about the event will be available on the Purdue men's tennis Facebook page.
