WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- The Purdue swimming and diving teams each hold a lead on Wisconsin after the opening night of the two-day Big Ten Triple Duals at the Boilermaker Aquatic Center Friday evening.

The start time for day two of the meet has been moved up to 10 a.m. (from noon) due to more snow in the forecast. Purdue's senior salute ceremony will now be held after the meet instead of beforehand as originally scheduled.

The No. 18 Purdue women's one-point lead on No. 25 Wisconsin (102-101) and the No. 14 Minnesota men's eight-point advantage on No. 17 Purdue (106.5-98.5) represent the top team scoring totals to watch going into Saturday. Eight swimming events and an exhibition (non-scoring) platform diving competition are on the schedule for Saturday.

Jamie Bissett and Guillermo Blanco each won a pair of events Friday for the Boilermakers. Bissett swept the men's springboard diving events and has now emerged victorious in five of the six diving events at the annual Big Ten Triple Duals the last three seasons. Blanco continued his winning ways as well, touching first in the 200 freestyle and 200 IM. The Spaniard upped his team-leading total for individual victories this season to 15, more than twice as many than any of teammates.

The Purdue men closed the night with a thrilling victory in the 800 free relay. Luke Trimmer closed out the win by out touching Wisconsin's anchor swimmer. Filip Bujoczek, Matt Friede and Blanco also contributed to the relay victory.

Michelle Cabassol was the lone event winner for the Purdue women, emerging victorious in the 3-meter diving competition after placing third from the 1-meter springboard earlier in the night. Allie Davis managed to post a new team season-best time (9:57.35) in the 1000 free this season while finishing as the runner-up in the event. Lew Gerbrandt won her heat of the 200 butterfly.

Josh Brooks (1000 free), Adam Johnston (50 free) and James Nguyen (100 breast) were all heat winners for the Purdue men. Johnston ended up tied for third overall in the 50 free after posting a personal season-best time of 20.49. Danny Tucker (20.25) was the runner-up to Minnesota's Derek Toomey, who posted a sub-20 second time while winning heat two.

Filip Bujoczek (1000 free) and Lyam Dias (100 breast) joined Tucker as Boilers to post runner-up finishes. Casey Matthews finished as the runner-up in women's 1-meter diving and did not compete from the 3-meter springboard.

Blanco (200 free), Johnston (50 free), Nguyen (100 breast) along with the women's 200 medley and 800 free relay teams also posted personal season-best times.

Francesca Marr (100 breast & 200 IM) and Davis (200 & 1000 free) were the top finishers for the Purdue women in a pair of events.
