WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Casey Matthews and Carly Mercer were both two-time individual winners as No. 20 Purdue women's swimming and diving was a 164.5-135.5 winner against No. 24 Michigan Friday evening.

The Boilermakers were winners of nine of the 16 events and improved to 6-0 in dual meet action this season. Three of those six victories have come against Big Ten rivals.

The Boilermakers arrived back on campus Thursday after a multiple-week stay in Honolulu for their winter training trip.

Along with Matthews and Mercer, Allie Davis and Francesca Marr also enjoyed big nights for Purdue. They each won an event and finished second in another for the Purdue women. Led by Davis, the Boilers had the top three finishers in the 200 free.

Led by Matthews' sweep of the women's events, the Purdue divers were victorious in all four events and accounted for 10 of the top 12 finishes. The 1-meter diving (Matthews, Michelle Cabassol and Mary Beth Dunnichay) and the 200 freestyle (Davis, Grace Hernandez and Nika Karlina Petric) were the two events of the night in which the Boilers had all three top finishers.

Mercer swept the 50 and 100 freestyle sprints to remain the women's team leader in individual victories. She also contributed to each of Purdue's relay winners. The Boilers caught a break in the 200 medley relay, the first event of the night, when Michigan's victorious team was disqualified by a false start.

Petric finished in the top three of the 200, 500 and 1000 free - posting a new Purdue season-best time in the 1000 (9:59.49) for the second meet in a row.

Meagan Lim and Alex Todd finished 1-2 in the women's 100 butterfly.

The Boilermakers are back in action Saturday afternoon when they host Michigan State for a co-ed dual meet at 1 p.m.
