CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - The Purdue women's tennis team took two of three doubles bouts from Missouri and freshman Nicole Robinson was victorious for the Boilermakers in singles action against Wake Forest Saturday at the Midwest Blast. Purdue will take on host Illinois in singles at 11 a.m. CT on Sunday to conclude the tournament and its fall schedule.
The tournament features a hidden dual-match format, meaning each team will play each other once in singles and doubles, though a particular team will not play singles and doubles against the same team on the same day.
Playing in the No. 2 doubles slot, Daniela Vidal and Lynda Xepoleas won their second match in as many days with by disposing of Tiger tandem Elisha Gabb and Rachel Stuhlmann, 8-2. Claudia Escribens and Nicole Robinson followed suit at No. 3 with a mirrored 8-2 win over Kelli Hine and Madison Rhyner.
After sweeping Wake Forest in doubles competition on Friday, the Demon Deacons got revenge by winning five of six singles matches. Freshman Nicole Robinson recorded the lone Boilermaker victory, prevailing in three sets, 4-6, 6-4, 6-3, against Kasey Gardiner playing at No. 4.
