MINNEAPOLIS -- Filip Bujoczek posted a new freshman record in the 500 freestyle and Purdue men's swimming won the 800 free relay, highlighting day two of the Minnesota Grand Prix for the Boilermakers.

Danny Tucker (50 free B final), Adam Johnston (50 free C final) and Jacob McGough (200 fly D final) won finals heats in the evening session.

Bujoczek was one of three Boilers to qualify for an A final Friday. His time of 4:22.69 in the 500 free was the second fastest in program history and third best among college swimmers nationally this season entering the week. He eclipsed Jan Karel Petric's Purdue freshman record (4:23.03) from the 2012 Big Ten Championships.

Bujoczek also teamed with Luke Trimmer, Matt Friede and Guillermo Blanco to win the 800 free relay with a time of 6:34.96 that was good for eighth best in program history. Bujoczek opened the race with a split of 1:38.28 and Blanco finished off the win with an event-best split of 1:38.15. Trimmer also posted a strong split of 1:38.75.

Lyam Dias placed fourth in the A final of the 200 breaststroke for Purdue's top individual finish of the day. Blanco took eighth in the A final of the 100 back. Both juniors qualified for their second A finals of the meet.

Tucker won the B final of the 50 free with a time of 20.01, .14 hundredths shy of his Purdue season-best time from the Indiana Intercollegiates.

The Minnesota Grand Prix is part of USA Swimming's Arena Grand Prix Series, featuring professional and independent club swimmers. Action concludes Saturday with prelims with 10 a.m. ET and finals at 7 p.m. ET.
