Blanco & Dias Post Nation's Top Times So Far on Day One

MINNEAPOLIS -- New team season-best times in their events from Lyam Dias and Guillermo Blanco that doubled as the best mark in the nation among collegiate swimmers entering Thursday's racing highlighted the opening day of competition for Purdue men's swimming at the Minnesota Grand Prix.

Dias posted the third-fastest time in program history in the 100 breaststroke (53.73). Blanco placed third in the A final of the 400 IM (3:48.26) with a time that was just three hundredths behind his Purdue personal-best mark. In both instances, they accounted for the top collegiate times in the country this season in their respective event. Via CollegeSwimming.com, Danny Tucker continues to sport the top 50 freestyle (19.87) time in the country.

Filip Bujoczek recorded the seventh-fastest time (1:37.80) in program history in the 200 free. Danny Conway won the B final of the 400 IM. Stephen Seliskar (sixth) also qualified for the B final of the 100 fly, his top event on Thursday.

This week's Minnesota Grand Prix is part of USA Swimming's Arena Grand Prix Series, featuring professional and independent club swimmers. Action resumes Friday with preliminaries at 10 a.m. ET and finals at 7 p.m. ET.
