Boilermakers Compete in Louisville Invitational

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Purdue men's tennis players Lucas Dages and Matt Bouggy participated in the Louisville Invitational Friday. The freshmen Boilermakers competed in Flight A Singles and paired together in Flight A Doubles. The second day of action at the tournament gets underway with singles at 9 a.m. ET, followed by doubles at 10:30 a.m. In addition to host Louisville, the tournament features players from Campbellsville, Illinois State, Indiana, Longwood, Morehead State, Middle Tennessee State, Kentucky and Vincennes.

Dages advanced out of the Flight A Singles Round of 32 with a straight-set 6-2, 6-2, victory over Indiana's Stefan Lugonijc, but fell in the Round of 16 to Louisville's Luis Elizondo, 6-7, 6-3, 6-4. The loss forced the freshman hailing from Bradenton, Fla., to bow out of tournament.

Giovanni Samaha of Morehead State dealt Bouggy a 6-0, 6-1, setback in the Round of 32 for an early exit.

In doubles action, Jeffery Brown and Michael Lippens of Louisville sent the Boilermaker duo into the Flight A Doubles Consolation draw with an 8-4 defeat. Dages and Bouggy received a bye in the Consolation Quartefinals and will face off against Edward Becker and Daniel Elston of Longwood on Saturday.
