GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Adam Schenk and Philippe Schweizer both shot 1-over par 73 to lead Purdue's contingent at the Bridgestone Golf Collegiate on Saturday at the Granover Resort in Greensboro, N.C. The Boilermakers are in a tie for seventh with a round of 8-over par 296, eight shots behind leader North Carolina (even par).
Saturday's start was delayed by two-and-a-half hours due to heavy frost on the course, and tournament officials cut the tournament to 36 holes, playing 18 on Saturday and 18 on Sunday.
Schweizer, who entered the tournament with a top career finish of 22nd place, fired a 1-over par 73 to sit in 11th place after day one. He is tied with teammate Adam Schenk, who also recorded a 1-over par 73, to share low honors for the Boilermakers.
Enzo Perez and Sam Fu each recorded 3-over par 75s, good for a tie for 36th after the first round.
Austin Eoff rounded out Purdue's scoring with a 79.
North Carolina's Henry Do recorded a 4-under par 68 to lead after the first round.
In the team race, North Carolina leads at even-par 288, followed by UNC Greensboro (+2), Chattanooga (+3), No. 10-ranked Virginia Tech (+3), North Carolina State (+4) and Washington State (+5). Purdue is tied with VCU for seventh place.
Action will conclude Sunday morning with tee times beginning at 8:30 a.m.
