Updated Draw

CORAL GABLES, Fla. - Purdue's Mara Schmidt played her way into the third-place match in the Orange Singles draw and Claudia Escribens earned a spot in the Green Singles consolation final of the Miami Invite on Saturday. The final day of competition will have two flights of place matches, with Boilermakers Daniela Vidal, Andjela Djokovic, Lynda Xepoleas and Nicole Robinson taking to the court Sunday at 8 a.m. ET, followed by Schmidt, Escribens, Krisztina Kapitany and Natalia Davila at 10 a.m.

Schmidt, ranked 125th, will contend for third place against Miami's Monique Albuquerque. She defeated 54th-ranked Kelsey Laurente of Miami in three sets, 5-7, 6-4, 6-3, in the quarterfinals, but fell to another Hurricane, No. 52 Stephanie Wagner, 6-3, 6-1, in the semifinals.

Vidal will play Barry's Karina Goia for seventh place, while Xepoleas will be in the 15th-place match against Kimmy Twelker of Barry in the Orange Singles draw.

In the Green Singles draw, it will be Escribens leading the way as she will play in the consolation finals against Allie Robbins of Ole Miss. The sophomore had to get past fellow Boilermaker Davila in the consolation semifinals, and it wasn't easy, going the distance, 6-4, 4-6, 6-2. Escribens' first match of the day was a 6-1, 6-2, defeat of Iris Verboven of Ole Miss. Davila had to face her freshmen counterpart, Djokovic, in the consolation quarterfinals, where she won 6-4, 6-4.

It will be a Purdue battle in the Green Singles place matches as Kapitany and Davila play for consolation third. Djokovic will play Maria Reis of Barry for 15th.

To avoid teammates playing each other in the place matches of Orange Doubles, the consolation draw was rearranged. This broke up the third-place match between Purdue's Schmidt/ Kapitany and Vidal/ Xepoleas. An 8-6 victory was recorded by Vidal and Xepoleas over Erin Stephens and Iris Verboven of Ole Miss. The 12th-ranked duo of Schmidt and Kapitany were upset by Auburn's 23rd-ranked team Jackie Kasler and Jen Pfeifler, 8-6.

The Boilermaker tandems of Robinson and Escribens, along with Djokovic and Davila, each suffered losses, playing in the Green Doubles final and consolation final, respectively.
