Five Boilermakers Advance to Second Round in Tulsa

TULSA, Okla. - Despite being hampered by rain, five members of the Purdue men's tennis team posted a win Saturday at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center to advance into the second round of the Saint Francis Health System ITA Men's All-American Championships. The rain forced the second and third rounds to be played out Sunday and the fourth round to Monday.

Tenth-seeded Szymon Tatarczykprevailed against Rodrigo Oliveira of Illinois State in three sets, 3-6, 6-4, 7-5. The senior's second-round opponent is Tomas Hanzlik of Penn State, who he will meet at 9 a.m. CT.

Mark Kovacsused a 6-3, 6-1, decision to get past Army's Sam Lampman and into the second round where he will take on Alex Sanders of SMU at 10 a.m.

Freshman Ricky Medinilladefeated Bradley's Justin Abrams, 6-3, 6-2, to earn a second-round match against 15th-seeded David O'Leary of Memphis. Their contest is set for 12:30 p.m.

Diego Acosta and Mateus Silvareceived first-round byes. Both Boilermakers will play at 9 a.m., with Acosta facing Drake's Matt Frost and Silva taking on Zvonimir Podvinski of Old Dominion.

In his first action this fall, senior Aaron Dujovne suffered a 5-7, 7-6, (4), 5-7, loss to Virginia's Jordan Daigle.
