WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Angelo Cianfrocco delivered a pair of two-out, two-run hits and Brett Andrzejewski worked 4 2/3 innings of hitless relief to close out the game, leading Purdue baseball to a 10-5 victory that completed a series sweep of Southern Illinois Sunday afternoon at Alexander Field.

The Boilermakers (16-27) posted their second series sweep of the year and their first in the history of Alexander Field. After scoring early in all three games this weekend, Purdue trailed only once (after the top of the fifth inning Saturday) the entire series.

The Boilermakers scored five times in the second inning Sunday to open up a 7-0 lead. Three consecutive bunts, including back-to-back RBI squeeze bunts, after a leadoff double from Cody Strong led to the big inning.

Cianfrocco delivered a two-out, two-run single in the bottom of the second and a two-out, two-run double in the bottom of the sixth. It was his second four-RBI game as a Boiler. Sean McHugh had three singles and a double, posting his second four-hit effort for Purdue.

Every Boiler in the starting lineup scored a run Sunday and all but one player recorded at least one hit.

Andrzejewski's 4 2/3 innings of relief marked his longest outing of the season in his team-high 22nd appearance of the year. He recorded the two biggest outs of the game, retiring the first two men he faced to leave runners on the corners in the top of the fifth. Southern Illinois (21-26) had already scored twice in the game to cut Purdue's lead to 7-5.

After striking out the only batter he faced to close out Friday's win, Andrzejewski (2-2) worked five innings of hit relief in the series, retiring 13 of the 16 batters he faced. The senior picked off a runner and induced an inning-ending 4-6-3 double play Sunday, erasing a leadoff walk with the twin killing.

The Boilermakers recorded eight hits over an inning and a third against SIU starter Derek Fogel (0-4). Josh Estill and Kyle Johnson consecutive two-out RBI singles in the bottom of the first after Jack Amaro and McHugh opened the game with back-to-back hits.

Aaron Snynder kept the Salukis in the game with 3 2/3 innings of one-hit relief. He struck out Johnson with the bases loaded for the second out of the second inning, but Cianfrocco delivered the two-run single to complete the five-run rally.

Southern Illinois got back in the game thanks to a two-out rally in the top of the third that featured three hits and a walk. A two-run double from Austin Montgomery was the big hit of the inning against Purdue starter Kyle Wood.

A leadoff double from McHugh in bottom of the sixth ignited a three-run inning that extended the Boilers' lead to a more comfortable margin. Johnson drew a two-out walk to keep the inning alive and Cianfrocco doubled into the left field corner following a long at-bat to plate both runners. After a pitching change, Strong followed with an RBI single up the middle.

Brandon Krieg, Jake Hansen and Amaro executed the three successful bunts in the bottom of the second. Southern Illinois did not record an out on any of the three bunts. The SIU first baseman threw the ball over the catcher's head on Hansen's squeeze. Krieg slid in safely ahead of Fogel's throw on Amaro's squeeze.

The Boilermakers return to action Wednesday they visit Muncie, Ind., for a 3 p.m. midweek game at Ball State.
