BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The No. 63 men's tennis team dropped a heartbreaker at instate rival Indiana on Wednesday. The No. 69 Hoosiers won, 4-3.

The match was the first time this season that Purdue (14-7, 1-4 B1G) won the doubles point, but not the match. The Boilermakers took the point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3. Krisztian Krocsko and Szymon Tatarczyk won their second-straight match at the top spot as they knocked off the No. 28 tandem in the nation. The duo defeated Isade Juneau and Sam Monette, 8-5. Evan Hawkins jumped into the doubles lineup and was paired with Mark Kovacs. The No. 3 pair held on to defeat Dimitrije Tasic and Chris Essick, 8-5, to clinch the point.

Indiana (12-10, 4-2) fired back in singles. The Hoosiers took three-straight matches with wins at Nos. 2, 1, and 3, to take a 3-1 lead just a point from victory. Krocsko kept the match alive with a win at No. 5. The senior rallied back after dropping the first set, 6-3, to Daniel Bednarczyk by taking the second and third sets, 6-4, 7-6, respectively.

The Hoosiers clinched the match with a win at No. 6. Essick escaped with a win over Silva, 6-3, 4-6, 7-5, after Silva led 5-4 in the final stanza. Silva has had three-straight matches go the distance and he has come up just short in them all. Aaron Dujovne wrapped up the match with a long, tough win at No. 4. He knocked off Tasic, 7-6, 7-6.

Indiana has now won eight in a row over the Boilermakers.

Purdue returns home this weekend to host Nebraska on Friday and Iowa on Sunday. Both matches will be at the Schwartz Tennis Center and admission is free.
