BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- An NCAA A Cut qualifying time for the 200 freestyle relay team and four divers scoring team points for the second day in a row highlighted day three action at the Big Ten Championships for Purdue men's swimming and diving Friday.

Danny Tucker, Chuck Destro, Benjamin Ziolkowski and Matt Friede teamed up to finish fourth in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:18.05. The third-fastest mark in program history would send the quartet to the NCAA Championships if the Boilers can qualify at least one individual (a swimmer or a diver) for the national championship meet.

Jamie Bissett, Layne Rogers, Alec Back and Nate Cox were again among the top 16 finishers in a diving competition, teaming up for 31 team points in the 3-meter springboard Friday. Bissett qualified for the championship final with a prelim score of 392.50. However, he missed one of his dives in the finals and settled for eighth place.

Meanwhile, Rogers and Back finished one-two and Cox took fifth in the consolation final. Rogers' Purdue season-best score of 422.15 in the finals was good for third best in program history. He's the first Boiler to exceed 400 points in the 3-meter event since David Boudia in 2011.

Purdue slipped one spot to fifth place in the team scoring. With 216 points, the Boilers will enter the final day of the Big Ten Championships trailing fourth-place Minnesota by 31 points and leading sixth-place Iowa by 26 points.

Jan Petric accounted for Purdue's top individual finish among the swimmers, taking second in the B final of the 400 IM. His time of 3:49.29 in the prelims was good for fourth fastest in program history. Danny Conway and Jacob McGough also posted Top 10 times in program history with their prelims performances in the same event.

Brian Kiel and Destro were also individual point scorers Friday. Kiel improved on his third-fastest time in program in the prelims of the 100 backstroke (47.95), shaving a tenth of a second off his mark on the opening leg of the 400 medley relay Thursday.

Destro moved up to fourth place on the Purdue all-time leaderboard in the 100 butterfly, posting a time of 47.54 in the prelims. His 50 free split of 19.31 was a team best in the 200 free relay earlier in the night.

Destro took sixth and Kiel eighth in the B finals of their respective events.

Lyam Dias (100 breast) and Jes Stepens (200 free) recorded Purdue season-best times in other events that also rank among the Top 10 in program history.

The Big Ten Championships conclude Saturday with prelims at 11 a.m. and finals at 6:30 p.m.
