RIO GRANDE, Puerto Rico - The Purdue men's golf team finished the opening day of the Puerto Rico Classic on Sunday in 15th place after shooting a 308 (+20).
Alabama leads the race for the team title after shooting a nine-under 279 in the first round.
Junior Adam Schenk paced the Boilermakers with a three-over 75 on Sunday to finish the day in a tie for 44th place. Sophomore Justin Cho shot 76 (+4) and senior Jakob Ziegler shot 77 (+5) to head into the clubhouse tied for 53rd and 58th, respectively. Sophomore Ben-Marvin Egel is in 69th place after shooting 80 (+8) in round one, and freshman Jonathan DiIanni is tied for 70th after firing a nine-over 81.
